Welcome to Feldenkrais class
STOP. breathe, listen, feel, move, rest …on the floor for a while.
Today I am going to ask you to do some movements of your body on the floor. The Feldenkrais Floor is a place to explore how your body moves, feels, and even thinks. If you find it hard or uncomfortable, call me over 'cos I can make the class fit you!
The ideas behind the movement will be a bit of a challenge because it is your first time here. If you come to more classes the idea will become more familiar and you will learn more about yourself.
The class is run by me, Katie Blazevic. It goes for one hour. Please wear comfortable clothing with no belts. I instruct you in many movement combinations of the different bones/muscles/nerves of your body, so that you use yourself and train yourself in new ways for recovery and/or improved function. There are over 1000 Feldenkrais lessons to try!
Please try this audio sample. Tip: If you have any pain, STOP. Listen and imagine instead. Imagining, or mental practice, is a good brain exercise in itself, and can often help in the "doing" of the movement.
